Mini bio: Iskayah

Iskayah was a Power angel back in the day, and is the mother of Ngah. He was known for his lust for violence and bombastic personality, and though respected he was often destructive to even allies and other angels kept a wide berth when on the field. As vengeance, he was once captured by a group of demons and cut in half with a special sword called The White Blade. He survived this incident long enough to create Ngah and pour the last of his power into her, before passing away. A biological quirk of his is that his halo was in liquid form inside his body, which was a great strength until the halving incident. He deeply adored Ngah in the short time they had together, and urged her to become powerful.

Introduction

ANGE, or what her name could be pronounced as “Anji”, is the enigmatic cyber girl who currently takes a refuge at Yuuya’s residence and eventually becomes the secret member of Miraitabi. Also according to several glitches and gaps in her memories together with her wondrous ability to freely hack into any device or system as long as they have the least bit of electricity running through them, she does assume herself to be some kind of an “Artificial Intelligence (A.I.)” and is very eager to explore the foreign world on the other side of her screen 

...But then, back to the great puzzle, what in the world exactly is she?

ANGE normally takes her virtual appearance of a teenage girl with petite stature. And unlike other A.I.s in their regular state, her eyes are permanently flashing red sparkling with liveliness while her pupils are inhuman white. She has pale white skin and incredibly long white hairs gleaming with faint rainbow reflection like that on the disk freely flowing down to her feet. Her bangs are parted to both sides with the middle lock falling over her nose, leaving some flaps resembling a pair of small wings/fins on each side. Her other most iconic feature were one cowlick that looks like an antenna sticking on top of her head. She is often seen sporting a white shirt with blue collar ribbon worn under the baby blue off-the-shoulder sweater. She also wears a pair of blue shorts and dons an oversized iridescent blue jacket from times to times. Despite merely existed via the erratic flow of electrons, ANGE is regardless the vivacious cyber girl with high voltages of enthusiasm and unbounding span of curiosity. Lively, spontaneous, opinionated, and a little bit cheeky with a touch of childish mischiefs; she is the fun-loving free spirit who loves getting her mind spinning around with countless ideas and new discoveries.

One of her biggest traits is her outspoken nature, which is greatly evident in her most interactions with her favorite human as she is shown to be extremely inquisitive about every little thing that has piqued her interest, especially when it relates to those things that are new or unknown to her such as “the world on the other side” where she somehow harbor quite a wild fascination toward.

However, who would have known that this seemingly “Pixie Girl” isn’t as ditzy as she looks… While it’s true that she is undeniably naive due to her lack of experiences, she is still witty enough to catch up on many unspoken things, capable of doubting, and isn’t all the time wearing her heart on her sleeves due to her personal reasons or whatsoever who knows.

And even if she is already knowledgeable beyond human standards thanks to her ability to access any source of data on the worldwide internet, what has truly brought her brilliance out is her hyperactive zest for learning.

However, her absence of prior memories including her circumstance of not having any flesh and blood in her possession doesn’t only detach her from proper common sense but also affects her persona in deeper details. In struggle to grasp her own identity, she has always yearned to be something so that she could feel connected to others. It’s also possible that her always happy-go-lucky attitude is just a facade she adorns to mask her deep anxiety since she has nothing else she could hold onto except her buddy cat and the human “friend” whom she gradually develops some feelings of familiarity to be around, involving several pranks and nonstop chitchat.

Her real personality might be shrouded in mystery even to herself, but her growing care and deep desire to be connected towards her comrades is something hard to defy…

Her favorite animal is Sea Angel which she has also taken as her theme animal.

Even if she thinks of herself as an A.I., ANGE happens to suffer some kind of a condition similar to what’s called ‘Amnesia’ in humans as she couldn’t properly recall anything prior her ‘Awakening’ except what is likely to be her name.

As such, she doesn’t even remember her date of birth, why she has been made, or how she ended up being in the device around her buddy cat’s neck until the kitten was soon discovered by Yuuya Kanata of Miraitabi.

January 19th isn’t her real birth date but is the day chosen based on the first time she gained consciousness and found herself in a non-physical cyber form —Also coincidentally, it is the same day Miraitabi got officially announced in the D.R.B.

Much to Yuuya’s surprise, she claimed to understand animal language, especially her buddy cat “Ojou-chan” which gets later revealed that the kitten has also understood human language.

Unlike other A.I.s, her virtual form is actually the animating 3D model of herself by default. But at the same time, she doesn’t have a materialized body like other androids.

The symbol over her manubrium isn’t authentic, she has just added it upon her model after learning other A.I.s do have their own symbols somewhere on their bodies like some kind of tattoo.

Despite being one of the residents in another exclusive dimension only known and belongs to A.I. conglomerate, she still tends to spend most of her time with her favorite human in the real world. And likewise her mysterious background in the real world, her origin there isn’t even less vague as she has suddenly emerged from somewhere that is believed to be a wasteland at the depth of cyber marine. Moreover, from the experienced sight of greater A.I.s, they can almost outright point out that her coding has something… ‘abnormal’ about it.

Although she has a ability to freely hack transfer herself to any network or electrical device, her favorite host is Yuuya’s smartphone. Thus, this lowkey indicates she is basically with him 24/7 as long as he has his phone with himself.

Thanks to Asahi’s quick wit, she is able to introduce herself to Yuuya’s friends and gets recognized as “his foreign childhood friend who often makes a call to him since she lives in a very very faraway place”.

She is a music enthusiast like Yuuya and recently debuts herself as another member of an indie unit “Sunflower & Sea anemone” alongside him.

Even though she claims herself to be a reasonable science person, she seems to have a guilty pleasure for myths and fairy tales... particularly the romantic ones.

After searching up things for Yuuya’s request, she seems to be interested in many participants who has suffered ‘Memories Loss’ just like her. Who knows? Maybe they might have something more in common than you realize…

Talk Shop Tuesday

I definitely do think about the supporting cast when I write, both in terms of the story itself and simply for the sake of rounding out my main OCs with more connections - their friends and family are just as important to their stories, if not the story told in the fic, as anything else in their lives, so it's important to me to have those connections formed whether or not they show up often in the story itself.

And, by contrast, the lack of a defined friend or family circle is something that can be very telling, I think: Kestrel mentioning the family they were raised in but otherwise sticking with the social circle Warren brings them reflects how getting close to others doesn't come easily to them, while Warren's more outwardly-social nature means he brings in those connections for them. Other characters, like Jimmy and Vivienne and Eris, don't talk much about their family much at all because of how distanced they are from it, both temporally and emotionally.

But with that out of the way, let's talk about some of those supporting characters that do make significant appearances in the story!

Emília Mendoza and Jace Scott: you mentioned them because they really are important to WWFA? in a lot of ways, and that's true! Jace is Katherine's roommate, a trans man who's currently pursuing a tattoo apprenticeship. Emily is Venezuelan-American and met Katherine through their shared art school classes, and wants to go into commercial illustration in the future! They're more than just Katherine's best friends, they're her family while she's away from her blood family in Memphis, and they're her number one support system through any hard times she goes through. They support each other in a lot of ways, and Katherine wouldn't have made it through her struggles without them to help her.

Anna Fischer: Rae's best friend and roommate at the start of A Love Once New. She plays a similar role to Emily and Jace in WWFA?, the family-away-from-home that Rae can rely on through the tough times. She's the one who first brings Rae to the place where she meets Warren, and often acts as a sort of mediator or second perspective to a lot of the first act of the fic - halfway between Warren and Rae in a way, since she's both a mutant (Rae was human at the time) but is outside the fighting ring Warren was trapped in. From a literary perspective, she also reflects Rae's openminded personality, as she's a mutant who reflects Rae's irrational fears (being a telepath, when Rae has a phobia of having her mind affected) but is still one of the people Rae trusts most. I do wish I'd utilized her a bit more as the story went on, I did bring her back into the story later in the game too but I could have done more

Hope, Hazel, and Honesty Woodard: triplets, and Madison's adoptive sisters in Smoke and Mirrors. Hope has the ability to heal others by transferring their injuries among a group of people, Hazel can control plants, and Honesty can compel people to tell the truth. Madison encounters them shortly after leaving the X-Mansion, and they later become a firm part of her family. In the story, they reflect Madison's "tough shell/heart of gold" personality and how much love she really does have to offer, as well as providing a bit of closure: they each were separated from their parents as young teens, but Madison made sure that the girls didn't fall into isolation like she did.

Lita and Jules: Indigo's closest friends while on the Steadfast in Bolts and Blasters. Lita remains a friend and supporting character to the end of the story, though Jules is unfortunately lost due to a reconditioning session earlier in the piece. They're meant to be a reflection on how love and friendships can develop even in a hostile place, and they once again fill that role of the found-family and support system to Indigo.

This isn't anywhere close to all of them, and I could make a whole separate post about all the villains I've created for my stories, but this is getting long so I'll leave it here. You'll see that theme of the incredibly close, found-family type friendships in many of my stories, and that's because I care incredibly deeply about my own friends and I feel like a strong friendship can be an incredibly close bond for a character to have.

Introduction

The Artificial Learning Intelligent Computer Entity, or A.L.I.C.E., for short, is an android created by Last Judgment's second member, Eiji Noguchi, to be his personal assistant. Created after watching numerous sci-fi films on A.I.'s and androids, the CEO and president of Sigma Inc. spent long hours and countless days creating an artificial intelligence program of his own to assist him in running his company. There is nothing this sophisticated computer program desires more than to not only assist her creator, but also to see just how far both she and others like her can push the boundaries of the human mind.

ALICE is a young woman with an androgynous appearance. She appears as a woman in her mid-to-late 20s. She has black hair in a curly bob cut hairstyle that goes down to the middle of her neck. Her eyes are round and blue and are hidden behind a pair of circular clear glasses, which she doesn't need, but wears, regardless. However, when she feels threatened, or someone is threatening someone she cares for, she removes her glasses, which somehow turns her eyes red, signifying her anger.

Personality

As her appearance no doubt infer, ALICE comes across as your typical no-nonsense A.I, and for the most part she is. When she is at work, she is all about business, refusing to let little things such as workplace gossip, little feuds between co-workers, silliness and other tomfoolery keep her from accomplishing whatever task her creator, Eiji Noguchi, has given to her. Before, workers only had to worry about her appearing on their phones and computers. However, now that she has been gifted a physical body, it's not out of place to see her walking around Sigma Inc. with her trusty clipboard and pen.

Despite that, ALICE has been lauded for by both Eiji, his family and the men and women of Sigma Inc. for her hard work and dedication. Though she is just metal and synthetic parts, Eiji has stated to her that she is more human than most of his co-workers. When asked what he means, her creator stated that the fact she is still learning about humanity is proof of how human she is.

As an android, ALICE is, no doubt, very smart. She knows the answer to almost any question you could possibly give her. And if she doesn't, she will research the question until she finally comes up with an answer that both she and her query are satisfied with. She knows that as an android she is still developing and learning, which is why she is grateful to the upgrades that Eiji frequently bequeaths upon her, as it only helps to increase her intellect.

Though she is a no-nonsense, that is not to say ALICE is uncaring or mean. As stated, she is well-liked by Eiji and his family, who consider her a part of their household. When she is not busy with work, she often likes to play with both Eiji and his kids on video games, finding them fascinating. Also, in her spare time, she will often meet up with other androids like her to talk to, finding the lifestyles of others interesting.

Another aspect of ALICE is that she is very interested in humanity. The compliment given to her by her creator about how human she was gave the android pause as she has tried to figure out just how far human intelligence truly goes. She admits that humans are "simple creatures, capable of evolving." She enjoys seeing how creatures behave and act. It causes her to wonder just what is that make humans tick, and what makes them different from androids.

As stated, ALICE is very caring, especially to Eiji. It's for this reason that she often chides him when she feels he is working too hard, or is pushing the limits past what he can do. It often forces her to demand that he get himself some rest, or refusing to work unless he stops. Eiji doesn't know where this part of her behavior comes from, and even examining her as yet to turn up any clues. Still, he knows that she does it out of love and concern, which is why he lets her get away with it.

Despite her caring nature, that isn't to say ALICE is a push-over, or is naive. After seeing the danger that comes with his position and knowing that there are many who seek to harm both her creator and his family, ALICE went against her programming, and installed a "defense part" of herself, dedicating to protecting Eiji from any and all threats. When this mode is activated, only Eiji, himself, is capable of deactivating it. When he found out that ALICE had done this, she begged him to let her keep it, stating that she wished to keep him safe. Though he was skeptical, the CEO eventually gave in to his android's strange request. Thankfully enough, the times ALICE has had to activate this mode is few and far between.

Trivia

Eiji created an android body for her, not only to help her get around in the real world, but also because he wanted her to stop surprising him while he was working.

Despite being far younger than some of her fellow A.I.'s, she is often referred to as "Mom" by some of them, not only because of her appearance, but also because of her personality.

She become acquainted with Aiko and A.D.A. after doing research on their creators, Sumire Shinomiya, and Kaoru Shinozaki. She considers the two androids her "daughters/sisters". She is wary of their "brothers", but still counts them among her "children".

Though she gets along well with Aiko, she dislikes her creator, Sumire, due to the numerous times she's tried to hack into Sigma Inc.

Her virtual A.I. form is the same symbol as the one on her neck.

Though she rarely uses it, she has a hornet bot form, which she uses to discreetly follow people around.

Despite both their masters being business partners, both she and Junko Tetsuya of Koto Division have a very heated rivalry with each other.

She finds the concept of love strange, yet also intriguing. While she doesn't think of Eiji that way, she has been interested in a certain white-haired man who sometimes comes to the Noguchi household. Whenever he visits, ALICE always acts out of the norm, intruding herself in the conversation to talk with him more, or driving Eiji's children to school in hopes of meeting with him.

Finally got around to making an official/colored ref of Apollo! :3 He has been on my mind a lot lately(mainly thanks to this one idea I've been thinking about, of him and Mini knowing about Nate's sexuality/supporting him there), and since I had a little time for art I wanted to finally make an official ref for him! :D

He is still not a character that I will be focusing on too much, but I do have some other ideas I want to get to with him sometime. These mainly being drawing him with Damini(since they are dating, and I just imagine they would be so cute together), writing something with him and Damini(again to showcase their relationship, but also to explore some of the backstory changes I made to Mini), and writing something with him/Mini and Nate, since like mentioned above I have been thinking about the idea of them being a mini friend group, plus also giving Nate some Feorian LGBTQ+ friends since he doesn't currently have any. Citizen of Feor, boyfriend to Lady Damini Koeler. Growing up in a poor family, he at first joined the army as soon as he could, as he was following on the footsteps of the other men in his family and he wanted to help out with earning more money. His time as a soldier was short-lived however, as he was only in the army for a couple of years before he gained a serious injury that gave him a large and rather nasty scar on his back, as well as an early retirement. While it took him sometime to recover physically and mentally from his injury, he was not that sad about retiring from the army as he always had dreams of becoming a traveling musician and finally had a chance to pursue that dream. At first he started out as a backup guitar player for this smaller band, working on his own music on the side, before it eventually picked up some interest and he was able to start his solo career. He first met Damini at one of his earliest solo concerts, and they bonded after she came up to him after his show and complemented him on his work. They clicked enough that they kept up communication afterwards, mainly through letters as he was out traveling for a while. When he returned to Feor was when he asked her out for the first time, not wanting to lose anymore time with her. Their dating has been a little more low-key since they have different occupations and are not seen in public together often, but they haven't been keeping it a complete secret either, and are currently making plans to move in together as they are hopeful for their future together. So far in his musician career he has become famous enough to both live comfortably and have many fans, even in other countries outside of Feor. Aside from Mini, another fan of his music is Princess Hestia, as they both play the guitar and she finds some of the things he has done with it very cool. Through Mini he has also become good friends with Prince Ignatius, with them only hanging out occasionally but they have become close enough, to the point Nate felt comfortable enough to open up about his sexuality and lover with him and Mini. Considered strong, warm, and bright, he is a very charming and friendly person that is able to get anyone to loosen up and have fun with his carefree and happy disposition. He is also incredibly open-minded and accepting of everyone who is not appreciated by general society, but he is also very critical of said prejudiced societies as he proudly stands up and advocates for what he believes in, even if this has not always been appreciated by close-minded people. In terms of more negative traits of his, he is a perfectionist to the point he will forget to take care of himself in order to get something done the way he wants it to be(causing him to feel pretty awful afterwards), he is easily distracted and forgetful so he always has to write things down, he bottles his stress too much to the point he either gets sick or lashes out, and while not necessarily a negative trait, as he is always out traveling he often forgets to make time for his loved ones, but he always makes it up to them when he returns home.

Deirdre is a lady demon who lives in hell and works as the Persecutor who judges souls. She's the twin sister of Delilah. She's an adult and has three children with her partner Grandefel, who's the angel Persecutor of heaven. Their children are Mihail, Meredith and Gabriel. Meredith lives with Deirdre, the rest elsewhere. The Kwamis! Some of these came easier than others, but since Angelic Layer has no magic involved, all the kwamis became human~ They won't be very prevalent, they're mostly here to fill in background character roles - shop clerks, MCs Tournament Directors, fans - so they won't have a whole lot of speaking roles (aside from, you know, the MCs who're there to commentate on the fights lol). But I thought I'd give them all a nice nod in the story somewhere.

As expected, Tikki and Plagg are the main MCs. Marinette and Adrien's fights will be going on concurrently so Tikki will be commentating Marinette's fights while Plagg commentates on Adrien's. They'll have the most dialogue of the kwamis, so I do want them to have unique ways of discussing what they're seeing.

Pollen will be working directly for the Bourgeois'. As a VIP with a direct relationship with the international director of Angelic Layer, Chloe has her own private practice layer in her home and Pollen is in charge of it's upkeep and maintenance. She matches Armand the Bulter's levels of competence.

Trixx is a Rena Rouge mega fan. They've been following Alya's blog for as long as they can remember and are mega stoked that Alya moved to their city. When Alya starts to doubt herself, it's Trixx's voice that can be heard cheering her on to not give up.

Nooroo and Duusu are servants in the Agreste Estate. Unknown to Adrien, they are fully aware of his sneaking around to play and the two do what they can to make excuses and deflect Nathalie when Adrien isn't where he's supposed to be. They're rooting him on from the shadows!

Wayzz is the adult son of Marianne and Fu. He brings them to Angelic Layer fights against his will because the two really enjoy them. The two seem to be really invested in Ladybug and Chat Noir's career (and the behind the scenes shenanigans that they secretly spy on).

Longg is Kagami's bodyguard. Like Nooroo and Duusu, they are fully aware of what Kagami is doing behind her mother's back and feigns ignorance when Kagami pulls something..."sneaky" to get to a fight secretly.

Here's where we get into some existing jobs from the show:

Orikko and Kaalki are the "Layer Hot Girls (and boy)". lol I just thought it was funny that Angelic Layer even has them.

Mullo is the sales clerk at the Princess Piffle store (the store where you can buy your Angel and all the accessories). All of them lol. Mullo and her many many sisters who look just like her.

Barkk and Fluff take similar but still different roles (the uniforms are ALMOST the same but there are some tiny differences). So Barkk is the receptionist at the Practice Ring (literally you pay to reserve a mini-layer to practice on) while Fluff is the waitress/cashier at the cafeteria at the Tournament Center.

Daizzi is a nurse where Rose goes to the hospital and she has segmental localized vitiligo. Rose is particularly close to Daizzi since she helps Rose make her donations to the hospital.

Sass is the backstage directory, aka, the guy who makes things run. He has an earpiece that has the same diamond pattern as his pants on it! The anime does show one person who helps backstage, but I wanted to have a little fun with Sass's look and tie in to him being "in charge" of the kwamis.

Ziggy works at Socqueline's family art supply shop, which is frequented by Angelic Layer players who are on a bit of a budget. They love talking with the customers about their angels, though mostly the design part.

Stompp is Ivan's foster mother and Roarr his foster sister (Stompp's bio-daughter). I actually didn't think of what kind of job this outfit would be good for, but I think she'd make a good security guard - usually working at rock concerts, which she bonds with Ivan over, but she's also been hired for Angelic Layer tournaments. Sometimes sore losers get a little...violent.

Roarr falls in love with Juleka's Angel Purple Tigress immediately thanks to her pre-existing love of tigers in general. She's even bold enough to proclaim her love to Juleka herself!

Xuppu is Ondine's sibling and a fan of King Monkey, though they'll go out of their way to make fun of Kim himself. Secretly, they're very invested in Kim's career and get very upset on his behalf when he loses.
